Pelmeni
One of the great staple foods of Russia/Ukraine is pelmeni. It is like a dumpling stuffed pork meat, beef meat, potatoes, maybe some green onion, onion, garlic, or pretty much anything you can stuff into a small dumpling shell. Hand made pelmeni is very labor intensive. When my wife travels to Russia without me, she usually will make 120 or so pelmeni for me before she leaves, so I can keep them in the freezer and eat them as I want.
